The votes are in and the results have been ratified. Giancarlo Da-Ré has won the 2020 MSU Presidential election and is President-elect of the McMaster Students Union. The President takes office on May 1, 2020 but will begin the transition process in the coming weeks.

The Teaching Awards Committee within MSU Macademics runs nomination periods throughout the year, providing students with the opportunity to nominate the professors and teaching assistants (TAs) that demonstrated teaching excellence. At the end of an academic year, the Teaching Award Ceremony celebrates the distinction of those nominated and their contribution to the McMaster community. This term, the Teaching Awards nomination period will be open until Sunday, February 2.

Voting is open for the Student Life Enhancement Fund (SLEF) ideas until 11:59 PM on February 7. SLEF received around 75 ideas this year, submitted by students. The final list of ideas was based on the most popular themes and the feasibility of the idea.

The Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance (OUSA) will host its bi-annual General Assembly (GA) at Western University from March 12 – 15, 2020. Decisions made at General Assembly are binding upon OUSA, and policies passed become representative of students across Ontario. As a member of OUSA, the MSU will be sending a delegation. Applications to be an OUSA delegate are welcome from any member of the undergraduate student body taking 18 units or more.

The campaign period for the 2020 MSU Presidential Election has officially begun, lasting until January 30, 2020. The MSU Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) Bus Pass Referendum is happening concurrently with the MSU Presidential Election. Online voting for both the election and referendum will take place online from January 28 - 30, 2020, closing on 5PM on the last day.
