Mental health issues are a rising concern at campuses across the county. Institutions and student unions are implementing various awareness campaigns and training programs designed to turn campuses into safe and stigma free environments. As part of the Stomp out the Stigma Week run by the Student Wellness Centre, the MSU is hosting an informational town hall session on October 1, 2012.
The Undergraduate Student Initiatives Fund is money set aside every year to help bring to life the ideas and initiatives of students who wish to enhance their experience on campus with and event, club activity, program etc. An open call for applications is on year round, and the first review is coming up soon. Term I applications are due by Friday, September 28, 2012.
The MSU-University Ombuds Advisory Committee is excited to welcome Kileen Dagg Centurione to McMaster in the role of Ombuds. She will be filling the vacancy left by Shelley Lancaster who retired earlier this year. Kileen will be working alongside Carolyn Brendon in a job share position beginning October 15.
McMaster University is offering a new award starting this year. Valued at up to $25,000 the award is aimed at providing students (undergraduate, graduate, and professional) with a chance to engage in transformative experiences, which normally would not be considered part of typical academic programs.
