On August 25 at 5pm, the MSU will host an open conversation with student and community leaders around the Black Lives Matter movement in Hamilton, and the subsequent calls to defund police systems. The panel will take place live, via the MSU Facebook page.

All students are invited to a virtual town hall hosted by MSU VP (Education), Fawziyah Isah and MPP Sandy Shaw concerning the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on students. At its June 14 meeting, the Student Representative Assembly (SRA), the highest governing body of the MSU, passed a motion calling on McMaster Unviersity to defund campus security, invest in racially and culturally diverse mental health support and harm reduction programs, and remove Glenn De Caire as Director of Security and Parking Services.

MSU President Giancarlo Da-Ré and the three Vice Presidents of the MSU take office on May 1, 2020. Though the physical MSU space remains closed due to COVID-19, the Board of Directors will continue work remotely and meet online. Together, the team shares numerous objectives, including increasing academic accessibility, decreasing financial barriers to students, and supporting students, including MSU volunteers and employees, as the pandemic continues.
