Mac Farmstand: Now Open for the 2014 Season

Mac Farmstand is officially open for the 2014 season, and will be offering fresh, local produce for McMaster students and community members every Wednesday and Thursday from 11AM to 4 PM . The MSU service, which operates in partnership with Hospitality Services and the Office of Sustainability, is located outside University Hall beside the Nina de Velliers Memorial Garden, and offers a variety of fruits, vegetables, spreads, honey, bread and more - all of which are grown and sourced from the local Hamilton area.

The Cult of Busy: The MSU President Represents Students While Overseas

On June 15th, McMaster Students Union (MSU) President Teddy Saull joined a team from McMaster University and the 3M National Student Fellowship in order to represent students at the International Consortium for Educational Development (ICED) 2014 in Stockholm, Sweden. The conference, which occurs annually and draws representatives from 25 different member nations, focused on ensuring that institutions around the world are engaged in educational strategies that ensure higher education remains at the forefront in terms of innovation and creativity. While there, Saull helped facilitate the very first student-led workshop at ICED, entitled “Diminishing the Cult of Busy in Teaching and Learning”.

MSU Horizons 2014: Registration is Now Open

The Horizons Leadership Conference is a 3-day, 2-night leadership-oriented campus experience run exclusively for first years starting university at McMaster in September. Horizons 2014 will take place from August 1st-3rd, during the long weekend.

Community Matters: A Letter to the MSU

Teddy Saull, President of the McMaster Students Union (MSU) has shared a letter with the McMaster community entitled Community Matters. The letter serves to outline the constitutional mandate of the MSU, which is to draw all of its members into a true society, and serves as a reminder that in order to achieve this goal we must build community at every level of the organization.

MacVotes: Recapping the 41st Ontario General Election

The 41st Ontario General Election is complete, and the Liberal Party has been re-elected to form the new government of Ontario. The Liberals won 59 of the 107 ridings in Ontario with nearly 39% of the popular vote.

FIFA World Cup Kicks-Off at TwelvEighty

Beginning June 13th, watch the FIFA World Cup on TwelvEighty’s brand new 70 inch flat screen – as well as all the other flat screens! Doors open at 11am, games start at noon. TwelvEighty will feature great food and drink specials for the duration of the tournament.  Prizes and give-a-ways will be a mainstay throughout June and July.
