At its June 14 meeting, the Student Representative Assembly (SRA), the highest governing body of the MSU, passed a motion calling on McMaster Unviersity to defund campus security, invest in racially and culturally diverse mental health support and harm reduction programs, and remove Glenn De Caire as Director of Security and Parking Services.

The safety of the campus community is paramount. With a recent spike in Ontarian cases and the potential for a second wave of Covid-19 in the fall, McMaster University’s decision to move fall instruction to an online model is a necessary and responsible precaution to help reduce the spread of the virus. However, hearing this news is not easy. Students are understandably disheartened to learn campus life will be impacted moving into fall 2020.

In response to the financial insecurity wrought by the global Covid-19 pandemic, McMaster has established the Student Relief Fund to provide immediate financial assistance to domestic and international students. Funds can assist with students studying abroad, caring for dependents, quarantine accommodations, food, rent, and utilities.

The Library’s online resources includes over 1.4 million titles, encompassing 100,000 e-journals and over 6000,000 e-books are available 24/7 with a MAC ID login. Articles and chapters from print journal volumes or books in print from Mills, Innis, and Thode Libraries can also be scanned and delivered electronically to students.
