Get to know hundreds of clubs through virtual ClubsFest

The McMaster Students Union has one of the largest club departments in Canada, with over 325 clubs across five distinct categories: Academic, Cultural, Recreational, Religious and Social Issues. Every year, the Clubs Department hosts ClubsFest, during which hundreds of clubs at McMaster display their work and recruit new members. Typically, this event takes place in-person during the first two days of classes.

Due to McMaster University's decision to shift the fall semester to virtual learning, in-person events can no longer take place. Therefore, this year's ClubsFest will be fully hosted online. Although ClubsFest will look a little different than usual, the Clubs Department hopes to keep students’ spirits high and get everyone involved virtually.

“The primary goal of the Clubs department is to enhance student life and help students of different backgrounds and interests come together.” said Ilayda Ulgenalp, Assistant Clubs Administrator. “Even through this virtual format, we are excited to share the 300+ clubs directory with the student body and hope that everyone finds something they love”.

Students can participate in virtual ClubsFest via Facebook. Here, they will be able to RSVP to an event page named “Virtual ClubsFest 2020”. The department is also active on Instagram,. Throughout the next five weeks, this event page will shine a spotlight on the various clubs at McMaster. Each club’s feature will include a description, as well as the contact information for students interested in getting involved. The dates for ClubsFest are as follows:

  • Aug 31 - Sept 4: Academic Clubs
  • Sept 7 - Sept 11: Cultural Clubs|
  • Sept 14 - Sept 18: Recreational Clubs
  • Sept 21 - Sept 25: Religious Clubs
  • Sept 28 - Oct 2: Social Issues Clubs
