Applications are open until September 20 for the OUSA Fall General Assembly

September 14, 2020 at 12:00 pm

The Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance (OUSA) will host its bi-annual General Assembly (GA) from October 29 – November 1, 2020. Decisions made at General Assembly are binding upon OUSA, and policies passed become representative of students across Ontario. OUSA’s non-partisan approach to provincial advocacy is student-driven and focused on creating policy recommendations that are both substantive and evidence based.

As a member of OUSA, the MSU will be sending a delegation to the upcoming Fall General Assembly where students from across Ontario will be creating and changing official OUSA policy. Applications are now open for five student delegates. At this General Assembly, topics of discussion will include Comprehensive Access Strategy, along with Housing, Transit & Community Development, as well as Environmental Sustainability.

Applications to be an OUSA delegate are welcome from any member of the undergraduate student body, enrolled in 18 units (or more). All perspectives are welcome and no previous experience with advocacy or student politics is required to apply. However, delegates will primarily be representing the interests of the McMaster Students Union (MSU). It will be the duty of the selected delegates to ensure that policy passed at General Assembly is useful and relevant to McMaster students.

In addition to being available for the duration of the three-day (remote/virtual) conference, applicants must be available for a five-hour (remote) training session on October 4 and again on October 25, 2020. The deadline to apply is September 20, 2020. Additional details can be found on the job posting via msumcmaster.ca/jobs.
